On Monday morning, Airtel users in Nigeria discovered a pleasant surprise on their lines. This surprise made Nigerians conclude that Airtel subtly supports the ongoing #EndSARS protest.
In the early hours of Monday, Airtel credited their customers a #1000 worth airtime. Prior to this time, protesters have been complaining about their data exhaustion. However, some have been supporting them by sending data or airtime to randomly selected people.
Moreover, online protesters have been using their time and data to tweet and retweet #EndSARS on social media. This is in a bid to reach more people and extend the awareness of the movement.
Furthermore, none of the service providers in the country has commented on the ongoing protest. Nonetheless, Nigerians believe this is the way Airtel has chosen to speak up as it subtly supports it. Moreover, it was gathered that customers that owe this service provider were not credited with this bonus.
However, the Nigerian government has not acted as expected by the citizens. Therefore, the protest has entered its third week. The Nigeria Police Force has also announced that there would be a training of Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) officers. This training will commence on Monday.
