Many celebrities both local and International have lent their voices in the fight against Police brutality in Nigeria. The fight tagged #EndSARS has gained a lot of momentum over the weeks although it seemed it has been paused. This can be linked to the recent brutality by the government against unarmed peaceful protesters on 20/10/20. Recently, Lewis Hamilton also shows his support for #EndSARS by showing off his shirt depicting the movement. Lewis Hamilton is a British car racer. He currently races in Formula One.
Early this month, he had his 91st win making him a second after Michael Schumacher to have 91 wins. Furthermore, on October 25, he had his 92nd win. This has made him the first best ever to do it. He supports the #EndSARS movement in Nigeria and also creates awareness about it. Moreover, he went to his social media handle and added the link for action against police brutality there.
“We all have a responsibility to educate ourselves and raise awareness of the tragedies happening in the world around us and take action where we can. The recent events in Nigeria are a human rights crisis. Hit the link to find out more #EndSARS,” he wrote
This action of his has since then received more solicitations from other African countries seeking his support.
