Folarin “Falz” Falana celebrates birthday with mixed feelings. The past week has been hard for Nigerian youths. However, the occurrence has taken a toll on some than others. Recall, the #EndSARS peaceful protest started on October 8. Though it was tagged “#EndSARS”, it was just a step towards getting good governance in the country.
However, this has taken another turn entirely. Different tactics were employed by the leaders in the country just to sabotage the movement. Yet, youths remained resilient in their pursuit of justice and good governance. Nevertheless, the incidence of 20/10/20 can never be forgotten in the hearts of many. Peaceful unarmed protesters who were waving Nigeria flag while singing the National anthem were shot at by armed forces.
What made it more devastating is that as at the time of this report, no one has owned up to this action. Hence, the reason why Falz wrote “mixed feelings” on his birthday as today marks a week of the Lekki massacre.
He wrote, “Mixed feelings. It’s been a week since we lost our brave soldiers at the toll gate. I have also now officially been on this earth for 30 years.
Furthermore, he prayed for a better Nigeria. “I pray for a much better tomorrow. I pray for a Nigeria that I can truly be proud to call home”
Greetings from his fans have been trooping in since he tweeted this.
